Testimonials

We would like to sincerely thank Bushra and Lalor Neighbourhood House for the wonderful opportunity they provided to students of Hazel Glen College. Working alongside the ABC Disability Group gave students an experience they will never forget, as they learnt the importance of giving back to the community.

Hazel Glen College

” I just wanted to acknowledge that it’s this particular house,
that allows people to come in and feel that comfort and warmth.
We are contributing to a community that is on the upkeep,
or on the up of feeling much more supported in health and wellbeing”

I really enjoy volunteering at Lalor Neighbourhood House because I can be myself and feel closely connected with the local community and those that make it possible. It’s a really positive welcoming space where I can come in for a casual chat and a good laugh. Volunteering has really improved my mental wellbeing and given me more meaningful purpose in the community. Lalor Neighbourhood House isn’t just a home – it’s a gathering place for our community. It’s a place where people can come together, connect with each other, and build strong, lasting friendships.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waterways where Lalor Neighbourhood House stands, in Naarm (Melbourne). We pay our respects to Elders past and present and recognise the ongoing and unbroken connection that First Nations people have to land, culture, and community.

We acknowledge this land was never ceded. It was taken without treaty or consent, and we recognise the impacts of colonisation are still felt today. As a community organisation, we are committed to listening, learning, and supporting the work of truth-telling, justice, and self-determination.

Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
