A Heartfelt Thank You from Our Manager, Jo
Our Manager, Jo, wanted to share the following message after our successful Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser on Saturday 25 July.
“What an incredible team we were! The day was filled with great music, dancing, laughter, and an amazing sense of community. We had Arabic dance music at the BBQ stall and ’80s and ’90s alternative music at the cake stall, creating such a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Several Bunnings staff commented on what a ‘happy bunch’ we were, and that was wonderful to hear.
One of the most heartwarming moments was seeing people donate money without even buying anything. I truly believe they were moved by the positive community spirit we were projecting together. We worked hard all day, handed out countless Lalor Neighbourhood House brochures, and had so many meaningful conversations with members of our community.
I am so proud to share that together we raised approximately $2,500! What an incredible achievement.
There are so many people to thank. Firstly, Geri, who I asked some time ago to begin organising the paperwork and roster. She completely embraced the role and helped lead the whole event. Thank you also to Hala, who worked alongside Geri, and to our wonderful volunteers including Zaina, Hiam, Kim, Mohammad and Bashir.
Thank you to our Board members, Kris and Rani, for giving their time, to my husband Michael for working the grill, and to my daughter Ella, who baked most of the delicious cakes. Thank you to Zaheda, Damian and Jason, who came for a couple of hours but stayed for most of the day. Thank you to Katt who did an amazing job on our socials! Thank you to everyone who chopped onions, helped prepare food, and to Nadia for writing labels and organising the food storage. There were so many people involved behind the scenes, and every contribution helped make the day a success.
To every volunteer, supporter, customer, and donor thank you. Your generosity, enthusiasm, and community spirit made this fundraiser truly special. We have another Bunnings BBQ in October, so if you missed out on the fun this time, we’d love to have you join us next time!”
