Keep Our Doors Open!2026 Election Budget Campaign
Neighbourhood Houses deliver enormous social and economic value to communities across Victoria. But today, the Neighbourhood House Coordination Program (NHCP) rate is 20% lower than it was a decade ago, and open hours have dropped to their lowest point in 10 years.
Without sustainable funding, our doors will close.
With fair and adequate investment, Neighbourhood Houses can stay open continuing to be the safe, welcoming and essential spaces that every Victorian community deserves.
Back the Campaign to Secure the Future of Our SectorImagine every neighbourhood in Victoria thriving where people of all ages and backgrounds can access support, build skills, connect with others, and truly belong. Neighbourhood Houses are at the heart of these communities, offering vital services, lifelong learning, and a warm, welcoming place for everyone.
But right now, Neighbourhood Houses are at breaking point. Nearly half of all Houses in Victoria have recorded a financial loss for two consecutive years. The Neighbourhood House Coordination Program (NHCP) no longer covers the real cost of employing a manager for the funded hours, and inadequate funding has become the number-one wellbeing concern raised by managers across the state.
You can help by filling out a postcard!
Neighbourhood Houses Victoria have developed a digital version of the postcard so you can send it in from anywhere! We recommend addressing it to Ros Spence MP – [email protected], but also include your local MP if possible and please CC [email protected] so we can track our impact.
