Mental Health and Wellbeing

At Lalor Neighbourhood House, we’re a weloming and inclusive community where everyone is valued for who they are. We celebrate diversity and create opportunities for people of all abilities, backgrounds, and experiences to come together, connect, and grow.

Supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our community is at the heart of what we do. We believe that connection, creativity, and belonging can make a real difference in people’s lives.

Our programs and activities range from art classes and gardening to volunteering opportunities, this give people the chance to learn new skills, share their talents, and make lasting friendships. Whether it’s through painting, planting, or simply having a chat, there’s always something happening that brings people together.

We’re proud to have individual support workers and their clients as part of our community, helping to run the Watermelon Café.
We’ve also teamed up with the My Choice Support Group, ABC Disability Support group, NEAMI National and the Northern School for Autism. Together, they brighten our space by creating colourful murals, tending to the garden, and spreading positivity throughout the neighbourhood.

In addition, we work closely with local groups including Whittlesea Community Connections, Thread Together, and The Big Hug Group to further support and strengthen our community.

At Lalor Neighbourhood House, we’re more than just a place,  we’re a community that cares deeply about mental health, wellbeing, and connection.
We make sure everyone, especially those who may be struggling with their mental health, feels supported, included, and connected. Because everyone deserves to belong.

If you’re looking for connection, reach out to us, we always have space for new ideas, new faces, and new programs to be part of. If you have a client or represent an organisation looking to connect, Lalor Neighbourhood House will support you too.

The graph below represents responses from 82 participants who completed an anonymous survey.
The results reflect their mental health since joining our programs – as shown, there has been a clear improvement.
