Our Star of the Month program celebrates the wonderful people who generously give their time, skills and energy to Lalor Neighbourhood House.
Each month, we’ll shine a light on one of our amazing volunteers and share their story, their contribution and the difference they make within our community. From lending a helping hand and sharing skills to supporting programs and creating a welcoming space, every volunteer plays an important part in making Lalor Neighbourhood House a place where people feel connected, valued and supported.
Each month’s Star of the Month will be featured on the main page of our website, giving our community the opportunity to learn more about the people who help make Lalor Neighbourhood House such a welcoming place.

Star of the Month – Nadia!
At Lalor Neighbourhood House, we are fortunate to have many wonderful volunteers who contribute their time, skills, and energy to our community. It is our pleasure to introduce our very first Volunteer of the Month, Nadia.
Nadia is one of the unsung heroes of Lalor Neighbourhood House. As a volunteer in our administration team, she generously gives her time every Wednesday and Thursday, often working from opening until closing and sometimes beyond. No task is ever too small, too routine, or too challenging. Whether she is folding brochures, preparing resources, supporting staff, solving unexpected problems, or taking on an entirely new task, Nadia approaches everything with enthusiasm, initiative, and a determination to find a solution.
What makes Nadia truly special is her willingness to do whatever needs doing. She does not seek recognition or praise. Instead, she quietly gets on with the job, often identifying what needs attention before anyone has even asked. Her ability to take initiative and her positive, can-do attitude have made her an invaluable part of our team.
Nadia works closely with our Manager, Jo, and much of her contribution happens behind the scenes. By taking care of countless administrative tasks and the many small but important jobs that keep an organisation running smoothly, she has enabled Jo to focus on major priorities for the future of the House, including improving systems and processes, introducing new software, managing organisational change, supporting staff through restructuring, and working to strengthen the financial sustainability of the centre.
Beyond her dedication and reliability, Nadia brings warmth, kindness, and professionalism to every day. She is always friendly, respectful, and supportive of others, and she consistently contributes to creating a positive workplace culture. Her presence makes a difference not only through the work she does, but through the way she makes people feel.
Simply put, Lalor Neighbourhood House would not be where it is today without Nadia’s extraordinary contribution. We are deeply grateful for her commitment, generosity and unwavering support, and we are delighted to recognise her as our first Volunteer of the Month.
