Celebrating Neighbourhood and Community House and Centre Week at Lalor Neighbourhood House

Neighbourhood and Community House and Centre Week celebrates the incredible work happening in local communities across Australia. Every week, more than 400,000 people walk through the doors of neighbourhood houses and community centres to access support, connection, learning, and opportunity.

This year’s theme, “Your Place to Connect,” highlights the important role neighbourhood houses and community centres play as welcoming spaces outside of home and work, places where people can come together, build friendships, access support, and feel a sense of belonging.

With 1,069 Houses and Centres across Australia (more than the number of McDonald’s nationwide) neighbourhood houses represent the largest place-based community infrastructure in the country, providing a vital lifeline for communities doing it tough.

At Lalor Neighbourhood House, we are proud to be part of this national movement. Every day, we see the power of connection through our programs, activities, volunteers, and community members who help create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

We encourage everyone to get involved this week ( and every week!) by visiting their local neighbourhood house or community centre, joining an event, or simply connecting with others in the community.

Thank you to our wonderful staff, volunteers, partners, and community members for helping make Lalor Neighbourhood House a place where everyone belongs 💛

Happy Neighbourhood and Community House and Centre Week!
