Welcoming Bronwyn Halfpenny MP to Lalor Neighbourhood House
On Wednesday, 8 July, we were delighted to welcome Bronwyn Halfpenny MP, State Member for Thomastown, to Lalor Neighbourhood House.
During her visit, Bronwyn toured our centre, met with staff, and took the time to learn more about the many programs and services we provide to support our local community. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the important work happening at Lalor Neighbourhood House and the positive impact these initiatives have on people of all ages and backgrounds.
A highlight of the visit was sharing our exciting new Sisters Who Sow program. This free initiative has been created for neurodiverse and culturally diverse young women aged 15–25, providing a welcoming space to connect, learn new skills, and build confidence through gardening, cooking, wellbeing activities, and meaningful community participation. We discussed the vision behind the program and the difference it aims to make by fostering friendships, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging.
We sincerely thank Bronwyn for taking the time to visit, listen, and show genuine interest in the work we do. Support from our local representatives helps raise awareness of the valuable role neighbourhood houses play in strengthening communities and creating opportunities for people to thrive.
We look forward to welcoming our first Sisters Who Sow participants and sharing the program’s journey and achievements with our community in the months ahead.
