Child Care at Lalor Neighbourhood House
Child Care at Lalor Neighbourhood House (LalorNH) offers a nurturing and stimulating environment for children 0 to 5 years. This is a great space for children, allowing parents and carers to attend to other things. Study, work, attend appointments, take care of personal matters or just relax.
By offering flexible options for parents and carers, LalorNH is working to support families in the local community, giving them the best possible care for their child and a fulfilling experience where they can learn and grow. Child care at LalorNH falls into two main categories, Casual Sessions and Term Bookings.
COVID Safe Practices: In response to the ongoing spread of COVID, LalorNH is committed to following all Government recommended COVID safe practices, which will include voluntary twice-weekly RAT tests for our staff who are all fully vaccinated. Also children and families with symptoms can access free RAT tests and will be advised to isolate if presenting with symptoms or if a positive test is recorded. Where practical, activities will be held outdoors under shade or inside with plenty of ventilation, with air purifiers installed.
Casual 5 hour Sessions can be booked in as needed (max 15 hours per week). It is advisable that you make your booking in advance however we are able to accept bookings on the day of the session when there is an available space.
Casual Sessions are a great support for parents that have appointments or meetings they need to attend. If you have a work roster that changes frequently discuss your needs with us and we can help you book the care you need for your child.
Weekly 5 hour Sessions (max 15 hours per week) can be booked for the term ahead. This secures the session for your child every week.
By attending regular sessions your child is able to settle into their routine at child care, getting to know the carers and build friendships with the other children.
It also allows parents and carers to plan ahead, attend classes, work, appointments and meetings, knowing in advance that their children are booked in.
Sessions are available the following times:
Tuesday to Thursday
8.45 – 3.30pm
Child Care is available 48 weeks of the calendar year. We close for the Christmas break.
NOTE: Outside of Term dates we operate holiday programs that are customised according to demand.

Quality Child Care
All of the child care staff at Lalor NH are tertiary qualified with either Certificate III and/or Diploma in childcare services. We have wonderful carer-to-child ratios, meaning that there is a carer for every 4 children under 3 years and 1 carer per 11 children over 3 years. This supports the nurturing and hands-on atmosphere at Child Care at Lalor NH and the children benefit in all areas of development. Our recruitment process ensures all Lalor NH staff are appropriately qualified and rigorous police checks are undertaken and verified. As a parent you can leave your child at Lalor NH secure in the knowledge that they will be under the guidance and supervision of dedicated and qualified staff.
Child Care at Lalor NH offers a range of activities suitable for the children’s interest and stage of development. These may include story time, puppet plays, interactive singing and dancing, outdoor play, puzzles, drawing, painting and relaxation time. The program is designed to enhance:
- Social & Emotional Development
- Fine & Gross Motor Development
- Self-help Skills
- Cognitive & Language Development
As children get older and head towards “pre-kinder” age their sessions are more structured, looking at pre-literacy, pre-maths and self help skills with the view of preparing them for a kindergarten setting.
Our carers and administration staff are fluent in a range of languages. Languages include:
As a parent it means you are understood, your queries and concerns can be addressed and you can left staff know important information about your child with ease. For children it means they can use the language they feel most comfortable with and have the benefit of experiencing English in a natural and relaxed way. So you can leave your child knowing they will be understood.
“Being an educator myself I was very particular in the care I was looking for. After visiting many centres I’ve decided to enroll my daughter here because from the moment we walked in we could feel the warmth Cathy and her team offer to the children. Cathy goes above and beyond to meet the needs of parents and children and has imbedded a loving and warm culture throughout the service.”
You can download our enrolment form, fill it out and bring it in with you to complete the enrolment and booking process. (Please be sure to check that ALL the form is completely filled out.)
Under the new ‘No Jab, No Play’ legislation, before enrolling a child, early childhood services will have to first obtain evidence that the child is:
- fully immunised for their age OR
- on a vaccination catch-up program OR
- unable to be fully immunised for medical reasons.
‘Conscientious objection’ is not an exemption under the ‘No Jab, No Play’ legislation.
Lalor Neighbourhood House is committed to the safety and well-being of all children and young people. This will be the primary focus of our care and decision-making.
