We had a lovely AGM on Monday 17 October with some wonderful reflections from the executive and great presentations from Bronwyn Halfpenny, MP for Thomastown, and from Carmela Garcia who has taught with LLLC for 24 years. Carmela gave a lovely historical perspective on the life of LLLC over so many years. This was followed by a unanimous vote for our special resolutions which included changing our name to Lalor Neighbourhood House! We expect to launch our new look in early 2023. Our final speaker was Jesse Grewal who has been a student with LLLC since 2004 and has studied English, computers and art with us. He gave a moving speech about how much he has learnt and where he would like to head in the future.
Take a look at the catering! A special thanks must go to Silvana Barba who did such a wonderful job of organising the spread! And there is so much more to thank Silvana for! Silvana represents the heart and soul of LLLC and has been the glue that has held LLLC together for over 26 years – always creating a welcoming and caring environment for everyone who walks through the door! So we want to acknowledge her passion for Lalor and all that she has contributed to the centre and particularly her willingness to embrace and take on change over the years!
It was also a great occasion to celebrate the fabulous new state government grants that will enable us to install community gardens, murals and outdoor activities around the centre! See our Annual Report here.
